Mas Selamat pop art released

Mas Selamat's mugshot has successfully entered the collective consciousness of society in under a week since his escape.

This is a testament to the workings of the psyche of the masses and of contemporary popular culture, which in no small way, owes its perpetuation to technology.

And no one said you cannot have fun with his image with the help of technology.

So, here's the deal (Pretty simple stuff anyone with half a brain can do):
1) Nick a picture of Mas Selamat off any website
2) Read a free online tutorial on creating pop art
3) Proceed to create pop art using software such as Photoshop CS2
4) Post the completed works on your own blog (or send them over to this blog to be compiled)

Re-representing his image is not a tribute. It is just perpetuating his image- with a twist.

By the way, you know you've really made it when your image gets translated into pop art.

Among those who did make it: Mao Zedong, Che Guevara, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and the Campbell soup can...

The following pop art was created using Photoshop CS2. It is big enough to be printed on A3 sized paper, if you ever considered printing it out.

Comments and critiques will be received with an open mind. Send them here.
